Wendy Shay: Because of internet bullies, my mother advised me to give up music.

Wendy Shay, a Ghanaian musician, has talked about how internet harassment nearly put an end to her career.

According to Wendy Shay, who recently spoke with Adesope Shopsydoo on the Afrobeats Podcast, she is the most harassed musician in Ghana. She said that she was harshly criticized by music fans who believed she was trying to imitate the late Ebony Reigns.

“My mother asked me to stop performing music and go back to Germany at one point because the trolling was so bad and it was affecting my entire family,” she claimed.

She clarified that she could understand their response given that she had received severe online mockery from several Ghanaians.

Imagine that they start making fun of and laughing at you after altering your face to make you appear elderly. They even claimed that I lacked sufficient talent. It was insane. That made me stronger, but I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy,” Wendy continued.

Despite the challenges, she asserted that people always supported her and had faith in her singing.

Since joining the industry, she has won multiple awards, including distinction from the 3Music Awards and the Ghana Music Awards.

Her most recent hit, “It’s Too Late,” has been at the top of music charts worldwide and has drawn a lot of attention from media outlets and music lovers.
